We are finding it so hard being separated from our classes and the Studio Pilates community but we are SO EXCITED that they have just launched an online program. All you need is the space to lay down a mat. Treat this as your daily meditation. Your necessary action to keep your body and mind in it's best possible condition.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty to me means being able to feel confident in your own skin, and feeling good about yourself. That will be different for each individual, whether it's because of exercise, make up, intelligence etc. beauty is a mindset. We should appreciate everyone's individuality and also their imperfections
What do you love the most about the work you do?
So much! For starters I'm so passionate about keeping fit and staying healthy and Pilates is an amazing way to do that whilst really enjoying yourself. However, more than anything, I love my clients and being able to form relationships with them and help them to achieve their goals. Clients come to the studio for many reasons, whether it is for rehabilitation, to work on their bodies or just to escape for some time to themselves. It's just really rewarding knowing you can make a difference in someone's life.
What is an average day in the life of Sophia ?
I am a single mum of two beautiful boys aged 4 and 6 so our days start off with our morning routine of breakfast, preparing for school and some reading time before heading off to school and kindy drop off. Once that’s done I usually fit in a morning pilates class and then try to get as much ticked off my to-do list as possible whilst I have time to myself. I mainly work evenings, so if it is a day that I am working I will rush to pick up the boys once they are done, as I like to be there at pick up and I will drop them to their grandparents to stay while I work. I will make it home just in time to put them to be which I love. I am so lucky for my amazing support team that help me on a daily basis. It definitely takes a village and I love mine.
What do you love most about being a mum?
It would be the unconditional love we have for each other. It is something that can't be explained nor did I know existed until I had them. They are my world and I am theirs and I am thankful everyday that I'm lucky enough to experience motherhood with them. Watching them grow is so rewarding and I know it sounds cliché but they teach me so much. Like to slow down in life, appreciate the little things, to be patient and they allow you to be the best version of yourself. They really do bring out the best in me
What do you do to give back to yourself? what is your favorite self care ritual ?
I really do make a conscious effort to find time daily to dedicate doing something for myself. That may include going for a walk, meditating, exercising, reading a book or even taking a nap. Whatever I feel can recharge myself at the time. I find it really important to live life with a positive outlook as much as possible. No matter how hectic life gets, appreciate it for what it is and be grateful.
What do you do to Nourish your body?
First and foremost I try to exercise daily. Whether that is pilates or a quick walk around the block with dog, nothing makes my body feel better than being up and moving. I make sure to eat a balanced diet and stay hydrated on a daily basis as well as getting enough sleep. You don’t just want to look after your body physically though but also mentally and emotionally, so also taking time to myself to recharge is one of the most important things I do for my mental and emotional state.
What is your daily skincare routine ?
I absolutely love skin care; My mother once told me ‘if you're going to spend your money on something, spend it on what goes on your face’. You need to find what skincare works best for you though as everyone is different. Every morning I cleanse, gently exfoliate and moisturise. My night time routine consists of firstly making sure all make up and traces of the day have been taken off, this is done with a cleansing oil. Then I cleanse, use a serum, and moisturise my skin. I do have a few different serums I use depending on how my skin Is feeling and I also do weekly masks to keep my skin looking as good as it can
What is your Number one skincare secret ?
Invest in good skincare. You won't regret it!
Drink loads of water, get heaps of rest and always have a positive mindset. These things all add up and will defiantly have an effect on the way you look
What is your favorite QrganiQ product and why?
Although I love all their products, I would have to say the Coconut Body Scrub is secretly my favorite. Besides the fact is smells good enough to eat, my skin has never felt softer since using it. Even my boys love to use it in the shower and its so good on their skin as they suffer from eczema and this does not cause any flare-ups. I love knowing the products im putting on mine and my childrens skin are not harmful.
If you could pass on one piece of guidance or thought to women world wide - what would it be?
Just to love yourself and stay true to you. We live in a day and age where there is so much pressure put on us on a daily basis, we need to stop being so hard on ourselves and enjoy life. Develop positive habits and surround yourself with a great tribe, knowing you are not in this alone. Women supporting women is a very powerful thing.
